OUR STORY
Built in 1954, the Ector County Coliseum has served as a cornerstone of community life in Odessa and the Permian Basin for more than 70 years. From rodeos and fairs to trade shows, sporting events, and the world-renowned Permian Basin International Oil Show, the Coliseum has been a place where West Texans come together to create memories that span generations.
HISTORICAL & CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE
The Ector County Coliseum’s stage has witnessed some of the most iconic moments in music history. Elvis Presley performed two sold-out shows here in 1976, Def Leppard launched their first headlining tour after rehearsals in 1983, and Deep Purple opened their U.S. comeback tour at the venue in 1985. Alongside these legendary performances, the Coliseum’s role in hosting major community and industry events—such as the Permian Basin International Oil Show—cements its place as both a cultural landmark and a gathering space where history continues to be made.
